Children’s Lighthouse values its franchisees, which we show each year at our annual convention. A few of our franchisees were recognized at our 2019 conference in late January, including Steve, Stefani, and Jordyn Kulawik of Schertz, TX, who were awarded the ‘Franchise of the Year’ award.
Truly showing their love for their journey as Children’s Lighthouse owners, the following franchisees were recognized with our ‘10-Year Award,’ presented to those who have shown faithful and dedicated service to families in their community:
Chuck and Karen Milling – Saginaw, TX
Angela Wolfe – Little Elm, TX and Prosper, TX (opening soon!)
Hung and Allie Lam – Grand Mission, TX
Ken and Diane Kay – Helotes, TX
Our franchisees have found a place to turn their passion into their career, taking pride in knowing our proprietary curriculum was designed to instill a love for learning at every age of the children we serve. We look for franchise owners who are business professionals, not necessarily education professionals. Your role as an owner will include business planning, marketing, customer service, human resources, enrollment building, financial benchmarking and more. Our four-week comprehensive training program will teach you all of these topics, as well as about the industry and our operational model.

Children’s Lighthouse, widely recognized as the leading values-based early learning school in the United States, recently showed support for the men and women who fight for our country by providing the troops a way to speak to loved ones from overseas. Children’s Lighthouse’s recent “Calling Home” campaign was a true testament to the brand’s values-based curriculum and dedication to giving back to the community.
Throughout the month of December, Children’s Lighthouse students, parents and community members were encouraged to bring in VISA gift cards for the troops to use to call home from overseas. To accompany the gift cards, Children’s Lighthouse students created handmade cards thanking the men and women for their services.
Children’s Lighthouse takes pride in its top-notch network of franchisees, who were able to send the gift cards to Support Our Troops during the first week of January. Childrens Lighthouse Learning Centers has had an exciting year!
Not only did Children’s Lighthouse continue to enrich the communities it serves with quality educational childcare, but the franchise has also expanded to 49 locations across the country, with its 50th location set to open in January! Looking to 2019, 15 new locations are on-track to open throughout the year.
Children’s Lighthouse was featured by several media outlets in 2018, including the Fort Worth Business Press, which discussed the franchise’s success with incorporating technology to emphasize safety, and Global Franchise magazine, which shared President Michael Brown’s view on maintaining brand reputation in a child-focused industry. Additionally, Marketing Director Monica Brown spoke with the media and shared how the brand supports franchisees with online reviews.
Notably, Children’s Lighthouse received some exciting recognitions this year, including:
“We are humbled to achieve this incredible milestone,” said Michael Brown, president of Children’s Lighthouse. “This ranking is a direct result of our franchisees’ hard work and dedication to succeed. We look forward to continuing this momentum as we grow into new markets and offer continued support to our existing franchisees.”
This recognition validates the tremendous growth the company has experienced in the past year. In 2017, the brand generated $55,000,000 in systemwide sales and added several new franchise locations. Children’s Lighthouse now operates 49 locations in communities throughout the United States. Notably, the brand’s 50th location will open by year-end.
Childrens Lighthouse Learning CentersSM has carved a special niche in educational child care by developing a proprietary Lighthouse C.A.R.E.SSM curriculum that focuses on both education and character growth. Now that same brand of early childhood development is going to enjoy a new home in Richmond, Texas when partners Karen and Zeff Walcher and Daniella and Patrick Simpson plan to open the doors to their first school in the winter.
Children’s Lighthouse franchisees such as the Walchers and Simpsons use their entrepreneurial skills and followed the educational franchise’s proven procedures to develop flourishing schools in their local communities. And while franchisees don’t need an educational background to launch a Children’s Lighthouse school, sisters Karen and Daniella will lean on their experience in the field to position themselves strongly in the neighborhood as they plan on opening more locations in the future.
Karen and Daniella have both been elementary school teachers. Daniella also served as an assistant director at a child care center while in college and has worked as a reading interventionist. For her part, Karen has a master’s degree in education. They are looking to develop community connections as they manage daily operations at the new Children’s Lighthouse school.
Franchisees like Karen and Daniella lean on the extensive real-world training that Children’s Lighthouse provides, along with targets for enrollment building and financial benchmarking. Such a comprehensive approach creates a strong foundation for a business in educational child care that parents and children also love.

Now, the early childhood education and care franchise is announcing the impressive results of the school supplies drive, with more than 500 donations made nationwide – including 30 new backpacks at one location alone.
“Our brand is dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve, which is why it was so heartwarming to see our franchisees across the network join in on our efforts to give back – and make such an impact – ahead of the school year,” said Childrens Lighthouse Learning Centers℠ President Michael Brown. “It’s a testament to the high-quality leaders and entrepreneurs we are lucky to call Children’s Lighthouse franchisees.”

Ahmed, Alla, Tesneem and Noor Attia each have their individual strengths. Together they make a powerful sibling team ready to launch a Childrens Lighthouse Learning CenterSM in Brushy Creek, Texas.
Since 1997, Childrens Lighthouse Learning CentersSM has anchored its philosophy on getting children ready for school by catering to both their academic and emotional needs. That all-rounded approach has won it enthusiastic support from parents and accreditation from AdvancEd, which holds institutions to high operational and educational standards.
This popularity has enabled Children’s Lighthouse to expand across Texas and the Southwest. The Attias are hoping to leverage the franchising system that Children’s Lighthouse has developed to build a thriving child care center of their own.
Tesneem has experience in early childhood education, while Noor, with a marketing degree, understands the nuances of reaching out to the community to expand business. Ahmed is an engineer who appreciates the value of education and the proprietary C.A.R.E.S.SM curriculum that Children’s Lighthouse has developed. Alla, a working mother of three with children in daycare, appreciates parents’ concerns as well.
The Attias are looking to serve the Bushy Creek and Cedar Creek regions in Texas with the Children’s Lighthouse brand of education that focuses on play, technology, character building and learning that molds children for success in school and beyond.

Parents can also be assured that their children are receiving the best nutritional care, as an on-site kitchen is prepared to serve daily fresh and healthy meals.
There are plenty of opportunities for children to receive high-quality educational child care. Children’s Lighthouse provides both traditional school-hour programs and interactive after-school programs and summer camps, welcoming children just a few weeks old to 12 years old.
