We’re proud to have recently celebrated our national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by participating in the St. Jude Walk/Run in Fort Worth, TX, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Childrens Lighthouse donated $2,500 as the silver sponsor for the event and raised an additional $1,945 for St. Jude during the walk, adding to the more than $13 million raised this year via walks across the country. Through the partnership, we have a goal of raising more than $30,000 for St. Jude for the 2019-2020 school year.
Our partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital allows our franchisees to join a mission bigger than themselves. So far, numerous Childrens Lighthouse schools have committed to participating in the partnership and fundraise for the hospital. For example, Allie and Hung Lam, owners of our Woodcreek and Grand Mission location, will participate in the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon in April.
As we grow across the country and our schools serve more families every day, it’s important to remember those in need. We’re excited to raise money and awareness for the children who need it the most. In addition to our St. Jude partnership, our franchisees across the network are actively involved with their local communities and regularly give back through volunteering, donations and more. Here are a few examples of what our franchise locations have been up to:
- Danette Miller, director of Childrens Lighthouse of San Antonio – Potranco raised $1,450 at her fall festival and donated it to the local children’s shelter.
- In addition to the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon mentioned above, Allie and Hung Lam recently participated in a food drive for the Houston Food Bank, a toy drive for their local women’s shelter and raised money to support Breast Cancer Awareness during October.
- Mistie Cobb, director of Childrens Lighthouse Round Rock, will be hosting a canned food drive this month for Round Rock Serving Center, a pet food and items drive in December for Williamson County Animal Shelter and a clothing and blanket drive in January for the Austin Shelter for Women and Children, as well as honoring our partnership with St. Jude in March for a Trike-A-Thon.
Our schools are created in an effort to instill values in children and to enrich communities. By taking the time to prioritize philanthropy, we are teaching our students the importance of helping others.
